sound of colors

though i was not really a fan of those typical hong kong comedy-cum-romance films. but i must say 'Sound of Colors' <地下铁>,is one that does not make me yawn throughout the whole movie. though the storyline was those synonym to those typical happy ending love story, somehow compliment should be given to the pleasant cinematography. bonus given to the movie for finding Tony Leung to act!

just watched it on national tv few days ago. the movie was up in cinemas in 2003. back then i was not interested to watch it. WHY?

1. the pathetic poster.. featuring keh le fehs flying all over. why on earth can't they design a better one?

2. like i said.. typical HK love story does not really stimulate me to watch it

3. pirated vcds are everywhere.. why watch it in cinema?

directed by Ma Wai-Ho, the film is based on an illustrated book from Jimmy Liao (who also inspired Turn Left Turn Right), and features star power AND acting cred in leads Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, Miriam Yeung and Chang Chen. Miriam Yeung is Cheung Hoi-Yeuk, a blind girl who gets a heavenly chance in love. While in an MTR station, Hoi-Yeuk is asked by an altogether too-smug fellow (Fan Chih-Wei) to borrow her walking stick. She agrees, and soon he returns with a gift for her: a flyer for a modern-day matchmaking service. The service is run by a fast-talking Hong Kong chap by the name of Ho Yuk-Ming (Tony Leung Chiu-Wai), who's being beset by unhappy customers when Hoi-Yeuk first calls. Nobody wants to meet a blind girl. Striking out, Ming sets himself up with Hoi-Yeuk for her first "date", which creates a few subtle sparks but no all-out romance.

Then Ming goes blind. How this happens is unknown; Ming simply wakes up one morning without sight, leading to lots of bitter emoting by Tony Leung as he angrily lashes out for being without sight. Hoi-Yeuk helped him. She patiently helps him past his pride and initial pain, and brings him to her blindness center. Finally, romance between the two blossoms.

that pretty much sums up 70% of the story.. the other 30% by Chang Chen and Dong-Jie was not really that interesting. therefore no point talking bout it. ahhaha...

Fan Chih-Wei does double duty as a pair of angels who shows up to lead these wayward lovers in the right directions. Why this happens is unknown, and even unnecessary. wakakkaa ...Love is something that requires nothing more than a push in the right direction, and Sound of Colors handles the pushing by glossing over it completely.
the theme song <星之碎片>is also quite nice...

it was rather amusing to look at the pictures of yourself when you were still in your mickey mouse shirt where your belly is half protruding. haha.. and where you were forced to smile for the camera as though you were very happy to be captured. and the smile you gave was so 勉强. ahaha looked at the four of us in the pic below and you understand what i meant. ahaha..

and then you'll laugh at yourself for the clothes and shoes you wear at those times. the hair too.. funky one leh...

letter from abroad

back from college, i received this letter from World Vision China. and on the spot i knew it must be a letter from my sponsored child, Cun-Jin. he wrote to me! he wrote the letter himself! a rush of adrenaline came through as i slowly open up the envelope. and there it was, a piece if squared blocks signifying those typical chinese people will use to write letters. i was indeed delighted to see the delicate writing of the nine-year old.

Cun-Jin lives in this rural area of Hebei Pingquan, China. it's a place where villagers earn only an ipod nano per annum, harsh climate, unsustainable agricultural pratices results in low yield and widespread of poverty, water resources is inadequate and most of all lack of education. these are the major problems faced by people living in that area.
it's a shame how some of us still grumble over the food we had everyday, the brand of the sneaker we wear, the incompetency of our gadgets whereas children living in poverty had to sacrifice their childhood only to earn a packet of rice.

i was real touched by the way he delivered his message (*though it was obviously taught by adults). in one of the sentence, he mentioned “..将来使自己成为有用人才,像你一样去关心和帮助有困难的人。" it made me feel that i actually am doing something beneficial and that i can make a change in one's life. those feelings are just beyond words.

in fact i should be the one to thank him for making me feel that i too can make a difference and that everyone is special and useful in their own way. thank you.

double the joy!

and now let's present the gaya person who just got her "P" license gaya-ly...

it was really 顺风顺水... everything went well... confident? of course! *slap*
was indeed 'lucky' cause my tester for on-the-road test was a chinese.. the ONLY chinese tester.. he gave me this cool cool and angry look at first.. but i must say that my ke-confidence somehow shifted my attention only on the car instead of his face... wakakka... *too proud liao*

after taking a ride through my ke-pro-an driving.. he somehow gave me a more 'tamed' tone..
hahha...

tester: "can you please help me call this person *(points at no.124)?

WAKAKAKAKA!!! he said... "can you please..." so polite.

anyway.. i passed my exam.. who cares... wei.. without bribe one ok! it's 真才实料!and i really wanna thank Mr. Chua! YOU ARE THE BEST DRIVING INSTRUCTOR ANYONE COULD ASK FOR! THANK YOUUUUUU!!!!

okok...
lets proceed to the next happy topic..

10-04-2007 marks a historical day in my life >>> Barbequeing in the rain!

at first.. everyone so gaya lah thought that the rain would not come cause the weather was real good man...凉风吹着吹着....then suddenly we heard this awkward sound .. synonymous to the sound produce when beans were poured onto metal piece... *like you can imagine...* wakakaka...

then everyone still so gayaly eating chicken wings and salad as though we're deaf..*proud-nyer* . without warning, god punishes us for being so gaya and poured on His mighty tears.. *metaphore-nya*

i thought that everyone was gonna call it end but who knows.. that we all took the initiative to use umbrellas .. not for humans.. but for chickens! WALAO! the feeling of everyone gathering at the stove 'protecting' the chickens was indeed funny yet warm..really liked the feel when everyone co-operate during 'crisis' hahaha.
an experience that wouldn't happen that often.. that's what i call once in a lifetime! 人生第一次就这样献出了.. haha!!

Happy Birthday Puijen and Zhiwei!

I MET JOEY YUNG!!!

Posted by peiying Saturday, March 24, 2007 0 comment

it wasn't a coincidence that i went to 1U at 7 pm.. and so happened that Joey Yung was there also!!!!!!

listened to myfm yesterday night and heard eric ma said that joey yung will appear at 1U to promote her coming soon concert on april. so i was thinking, it would be such a waste if i do not make my way to 1u today to see her.

it wasn't a big thing after all and the venue allocated for her pomotion was rather pathetic i must say. it's just outside of the building near a not-the-main entrance. despite her cantonpop queen status in hk, wouldn't that be such a humiliation for her? YOU SAY

only approximately 500 people were at the place just to have a look at what joey looked like in real person. and out of the 500, only a very small portion were her fans... WALAO! people make it all the way from hk just to attend this pathetic promotion thing leh... really no give face loh... some more have to help promote OSIM's U PAPA... WHAT THE....?!

here are some of the pictures i managed to capture at 5 meters distance from her... WAKAKA!!
