Posted by peiying Tuesday, April 29, 2008 2 comment

#1 unhappy frog

#2 the only coloured drawing of the class

#3 one of the best drawings

#4 flattened to 'volumized' mature frog

#5 a retarded growing frog into a very unhappy and handicapped adult

#6 a blur case frog (with protruding teeth)

#7 an out of shaped-plasticine-liked frog

KL one day footage

Posted by peiying Tuesday, April 1, 2008 4 comment

living 2 decades of my life, today was one of the days when i truly appreciate the buildings i see so often when i passed through them every now and then. i went with my long time no see cousin brother, derek, whose hailed from canada (and is now a native of canada) to these 'abandoned-by-locals' tourists' attractions.

we departed from taman bahagia lrt station to klcc and headed into petronas twin tower 1 to get FREE tickets to access the skybridge. though living in kl for so many years, i never really took the initiative to get upclose with the skyscrapers of the city. so, we queued up and was attended by an officer who is responsible to jot down where the visitors are from.

too bad, the morning session was full that day, so will have to try next day.

queing up for tickets

my my, the twin towers do look magnificent. it made me proud as a malaysian. i really do.

petronas twin tower

so we took the lrt again and proceeded to masjid jamek.
yes, heard of it so many times, all i knew about masjid jamek was that it's an interchange station for lrt. (vain -__-")

sesiously i don't even know that the mosque is located just beside the station. we walked so far away to dataran merdeka and had to asked directions. poor me.. shameful! it felt as though i am a foreign tourist myself.

masjid jamek

so, we turned back and found this mosque which turns 100 this year. and i was required to wear this selendang as a tudung before entering. it was very very hot that day, and with the selendang covering my head, i was sweating profusely.

flags in dataran merdeka

dataran merdeka

to our surprise, we found out that our national flag, jalur gemilang is no longer at the square. we wonder if it had been taken to the laundry, since it has not been washed for 50 years. HAHA..

sultan abdul samad building

little do i know about the function of this particular building. i only remember that it has a clock tower by the side. today i knew. it once houses the administration offices for the state and also Royal Malaysia Court, Malaya's High Court, and KL High Court.

dayabumi

national post office

KTM (Keretapi Tanah Melayu) railway in the city

KTM building 1

KTM building 2

the KTM admin building pathway- once so busy, now, only foot trails were left behind

old KTM railway

the old KTM building is now kind of relinquished, and was turned into an art gallery and also functions as a mini KTM museum.

back then, people used to flock to and fro the station, passengers waiting by the seats in the railway, typical malay songs played by blind beggars, the sound of train whistle, so many can be seen and heard.

now, it is all so quiet, so so quiet............

KTM train

heaven for abstract art enthusiasts

some head-tilting humans in the kampung

okay, i admit, i do not know how to appreciate this. (gives me headache)

but yet, we can still see some very brilliant and (pleasant to eyes) drawings.

some artifacts found in the mini museum

1930s fan

some tools used for signalling and communication during the 1930s

1930s typewriters

1930s fax machine

then we headed to the opposite and enter the national museum

national museum

the last time i had been to tugu negara (national monument) was 18 years ago. the memories are so vague, all i could remember is that i did so many candid, foolish shots around this tower. hahaha..

remembrance tower (that's what i called it.. paiseh) at tugu negara (national monument)

and of course, the not to be missed, deer farm at lake garden.

these are our cultural heritage. the evidence of our country's development. without history, there will be no present.

take some time and walk down these memory lanes and you'll discover the true meaning and treasure of history.
