Posted by peiying Friday, February 29, 2008 1 comment

haih...
haih..

everyone's leaving and i'm feeling blue

just within a couple of weeks and now it seems eveyone has left. why do i feel so empty? as though i am the only left out one. there's this anonymous pressure resembling something unhappy is gonna happen anytime soon. i know, i know. that cast-away feel is back. i do not want to be a pessimist, but it still is a fact i'll have to face, no second choice.

just a couple of weeks ago, i received an assumed good news from ms. fan. yes, i've passed. passed the DipATCL. it was a good news, but somehow i'm not as excited as i thought i would be. and this is how the sms goes:

Peiying, Congratulations! You've passed your diploma but i still haven't gotten the marks from mr.lim yet.

as i scanned through the words 'you've passed your diploma', at that moment i knew, the marks weren't gonna be as i expected.

and i know that is just the preliminary of my worries.

bearing the worries and that's how i've celebrated my chinese new year.

weeks passed, online hk dramas have become my next best friend after facebook. 3 hours in front of the laptop and that's all i've done for the past couple of weeks. looked for part-time jobs, none replied. FED UP! TOTALLY FED UP!

so today i went to see ms.fan regarding the recommendation letter for NUS music audition, and once i entered the door, bad news strucked! the aftermath of my worries invade. pierced right through my heart!! 58! she said 58! and that's all i've got for my Dip. it felt as though a tight slap on your face from your foe saying >> LOSER!!
minus the marks for programme notes, that means i've only gotten 50 marks for my performance. 50?!?! my bottom line was never 50. 60 was my worse expectation (and my teacher's too). plus 8 marks for programme notes, 68 was what we've both expected. though not a distinction, at least i knew my hard work has paid off. but now..

salt on the wound. very painful that is. i knew my teacher was a little disappointed. perhaps very disappointed. from the look on the face. i knew it.

once again, i've proved my intuition right. unhappy news are going to come one by one very soon. i do not wanna think that way, but i just couldn't help it. 2 weeks from now, another demoralizing news will be received soon. my A-Levels result. my mom is already disappointed for my dip results. i do not wanna disappoint her again. it feels so bad seeing others being disappointed from my cause. i hate it! just HATE IT!

everyone has started off with their uni. what am i still doing at home? a parasite?

a good-for-nothing-parasite?

just finished watching 'Heart of Greed". though a bit kua cheong, but still it's one of the most successful and most gripping hk series in the recet years. the plot is more or less the same as those which talks about competing for family wealth.

simply just liked the 4 main characters in the show. they were ‘大细包’and ‘大细契’. WHOA! credits given to the 细契 for being one of the most jinkak character in hk series history. if there's an award for the most evil and thick-skinned woman, she is definitely going to bring that home. but inevitable that her acting skills are way too pro also. salute the jinkak! HAHAH...

and if asked my favourite, that will be my beloved 陈豪 playing 细包 aka 得得地。how i loved to watch his 浮夸 and 不可一世 look. way too hilarious. and, and, and also his pathetic ringtone,--- 你妈找你,你爸找你,你爷爷找你。。HAHAHHA!!!

he and the 大包 has so much chemistry together. very 有默契!both equally 浮夸,both laughed uglily.

this part in the series is damn funny.

look at the ac-si face.. Sexy-On in the act!

typical 得得地 look, very honest hor..

and he's this damn good man, did his best to help and protect the woman (常在心) he loved but treats him only as best friend. way too best already loh, where to find such great man. always be there for the one he loved. AW!!! so gam dong.

I LOVED MOSES!

the facts behind beautiful hair

the frightening facts of hair rebonding...

1. Hair Loss from Hair Straightening
from (http://verygoodtips.com/?p=74)

In Singapore, a 14 year-old girl had big clumps of hair falling off in the shower a year after the process. Her hair started breaking 2 months after being rebounded.
In Manila, a woman is suing her hairdresser for bald patches on her head after a similar treatment. Her scalp started stinging during the process itself and hair fell off in clumps shortly after.

Hair rebonding is a process where the chemical bonds in your hair are broken, rearranged and bonded back again permanently using very strong chemicals. It is one of the most damaging things that you can do to your hair.

During rebonding, perming lotion is added to soften the hair and breakdown its bonds. After this is washed off, hair is placed between 2 metal plates of an electric styling device, which uses heat to pull the hair rod straight. A neutralizer is applied to reset the bonds and stabilize the hair.
Hair is irreversibly altered after the perming process. Chemically treated hair shafts are weaker and fracture more easily. This can lead to hair loss.

Hair becomes fragile and has to be handled with extreme care after treatment. A natural reflex, like tucking your hair behind your ears or tying your hair in the first month can be disastrous.

The process can also cause damage and burns to the skin and scalp. For example, hair can be damaged if the various chemicals are left on the hair for too long, or if ironing is done with an iron at higher than 180C.
Conventional methods of straightening hair use hair straightening lotions (like the relaxer, straightening cream and temporary straightening gel), which
result in dry, brittle, and split ends prone hair.
Rebonding gives you softer hair and higher risks because it uses more toxic chemicals like sodium hydroxide, guanidine hydroxide. ammonium thioglycolate.

The cuticle of this hair has been significantly damaged by repeated and excessive perming

Sodium hydroxide is a caustic chemical that can burn the skin, and break or damage hair. The stronger the solution used (for better effects), the more potential damage can occur to the hair.
Guanidine hydroxide is less damaging than sodium hydroxide, but it may still damage hair and it can definitely de-fat the scalp. Ammonium Thioglycolate is a known cause of
irritant contact dermatitis
in hairdressers and their clients.

Maintaining the rebonded look means continual touch-ups, at the least, every 6 months. This puts you at further risks of hair loss, eventually, and prematurely leaving your full head of hair nothing but a memory.

2. Bleaching hair causes brain damages
(from www.uncoveror.com/bleaching.htm)

According to Dr. Martin Pratt of Brandine University, and Dr. Benjamin Staines of the Center for the Institute of Studies, hair bleaching causes brain damage. Hydrogen peroxide, the key ingredient, will seep into the skull, and kill brain cells.

"We have all heard the jokes about dumb blonds, and I wondered if they were really all dizzy," said Dr. Pratt. "I decided to do a scientific study. I met many blonds who matched the stereotype, and other blonds who clearly did not. It was not long before I noticed an uncanny pattern. Natural blonds were not dumb or dizzy at all. Many of them were highly intelligent, coordinated and sensible. Bleach blonds demonstrated negative traits like being dim-witted, vain, shallow, gullible, and generally dizzy.

I had a colleague of mine, Dr. Staines, perform studies to confirm my findings, and he did. Bleach blonds are dumb because they suffer from peroxide poisoning.
"When I started my own study to confirm Dr. Pratt's findings," explained Dr. Staines, "I decided to check men as well, since hair bleaching and dyeing are becoming popular with both sexes. Men, too are suffering loss of their mental abilities through use of hair dyes and bleaches. Bleach is far worse than other hair colors, as it contains a lot more peroxide. Men who bleached their hair were prone to grunting and high-fiving a lot, had difficulty remembering simple things like names, and seemed to have a penchant for injuring themselves performing stupid stunts."

3. Hair dye

Q: How does Natural Hair Dye differ from Chemical hair dye?
By chemical dye, most of the chemical dyes contains bleaching agents such as Ammonia and / or peroxide which damage the outer most layer and create capillaries in hair shaft. the chemical colour. The next application again does the same on hair shaft. This result in loss of strength, roughness and permanent damage to hair.

Q: What is PPD?
Paraphenylediaamine (PPD) is the main colour giving chemical in most of (98%) of the Chemical hair dyes including most of the big brands. It is popular as hair dye because it is a permanent hair dye that gives Natural Look. Hair can be shampooed without becoming lighter.

Q: What are the allergies/reactions that PPD can cause?
Reaction caused by the use of hair dye in mild cases usually only involves dermatitis to the upper eyelids or the rims of the ears. In more severe cases, there may be marked reddening and swelling of the scalp and the face. The eyelids may completely close and the allergic contact dermatitis reaction may become widespread.
