NHS placement interview

Posted by peiying Saturday, March 5, 2011

so it began weeks ago for endless googlings of "hospital summer placement interview". though prior preparations do mitigate the anxiety a whole lot, it is still inevitable to feel the tension as days approach. stepped foot into the waiting room, first thing that steered your attention was, you are actually 'competing' with some of the best from the batch, and even some hailed from the west side - ireland.

the panel interviewers constitute of three senior pharmacists, each representing their own region were friendly, which tremendously eased my tension. was glad that the 15 minutes conversation flowed quite well. fellow friends who are attending any future hospital interviews, hope you'll find this helpful.

the interviewers will first make a self-introduction as to which NHS hospital they represent, how will the interview progress and they'll wrap it up with you asking questions. lucky enough was i to be queried on questions that had been prepared beforehand. you will not be expected to utilise any of your pharmacological knowledge, no drug interactions or any clinically relevant topics. *phew*

1. what do you like about your university days?
2. why hospital pharmacy?
3. what is your greatest achievement to date?
4. which subject do you like most in your course?
5. any other plans besides doing a summer placement?
6. tell us about your past working experiences in community and hospital pharmacies
7. any specific preference for which hospital and why?
8. which preferred date to commence your placement?

during the 3 or 4 weeks placement, you'll be expected to complete a project and receive a certificate upon completion. it's a PAID placement, accommodation will be provided. and start anticipating for a positive reply in 1-2 weeks time.
